Craving A South Indian Breakfast?

Craving A South Indian Breakfast?

South Indian cuisine is one that can set the morning ball rolling for the day well enough. A meal comprising of aromatic sambar, fresh steamed idlis and filter coffee on the side and voila! Let’s get set for a fairly easy-to-prepare tummy-filling meal – that can be had early in the morning or for lunch.

Steamed Whole Wheat Idli/Goduma Rava Idli

Idlis are traditionally made from rice batter, but here is taking the healthy eating one notch up with wheat idlis. Also known as Goduma Rava Idli, the total time to make these idlis is 25 minutes according to Sailu’s Kitchen.

Upma

Think upma is an easy thing to make? Think again. Making a non-sticky upma is indeed an art, as aptly put by The Chef and Her Kitchen vegetarian food blog. This recipe page also gives variations to include vegetables and rawa.

Vada

An idli and upma meal is absolutely incomplete without Vadas and Sambar, and the absolute must coconut chutney. Vada in itself makes for a crunchy, hot evening snack too! Yummy Tummy has an easy recipe for you.
