I’m absolutely besotted with homemade Cashew Milk and am quite happy drinking this straight up, with a little bit of honey or maple syrup as a sweetener. But I had bigger and better plans for this So this golden Saffron Turmeric Cashew Milk was made and devoured in no time!
Turmeric milk is a common Indian household remedy for a number of ailments. Every time we suffer an injury, fall sick or are recovering from a sickness, get a nasty cold and cough, have a baby….. This healing drink comes to the rescue. Turmeric provides many health benefits as it has anti-inflammatory, anti– bacterial, antioxidant properties. Its a great immunity booster and is wonderful for digestion as well.
One of the most expensive spices in the world, saffron is extremely valuable because of its distinct flavour, health and medicinal properties. Its also known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant attributes. Its a great stress buster, helps control blood pressure, stimulates digestion and helps in detoxification of the body. ( SOURCE)
This recipe combines the goodness of not only turmeric and saffron, but also cinnamon, cardamom and honey ( you can use maple syrup or coconut sugar, if you like to keep it vegan) to make a fabulously delicious drink. The thick, creamy cashew milk really does take it up a few notches.
INGREDIENTS: (For 1 serving)
- 1 cup Cashew Milk Homemade
- 1-2 tsp honey Or maple syrup/ coconut sugar
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
- 2 Green cardamom Seeds only
- 8-10 strands Saffron
- Blend all the ingredients together in your blender. Taste and adjust for sweetness.
- Serve chilled or warm. Top with pistachios and a few extra strands of saffron (optional)
